The use of Laser Doppler Vibrometry for intra-operative positioning of middle ear prosthesis - Horia Mocanu

With the present work, Dr. Horia Mocanu commits himself to the experimental study of the concept that the Middle Ear Transfer Function (METF) can be measured in real-time during the reconstruction of the ossicular chain.
The theoretical part of the work is extensive and covers subjects such as the mechanics of the middle ear, physiology of transmission hearing loss, history of middle ear implants, factors that influence middle ear reconstruction results, description of Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV) and previous attempts in using it as an intra-operative diagnostic method.
